Whitehaven

Whitehaven harbour is a very popular venue offering fishing for a range of species through most of the year.

Plaice, flounders, dabs, cod, whiting, coalfish, and mackerel can all be taken during their seasons along with the odd bass, pollack, mullet and conger.

The north pier is the main venue with a good wide stone platform and plenty of space for everyone. Fishing is generally best on the bigger tides with the three hours either side of high water the optimum period.

Some considerable work has gone into the redevelopment of the harbour and surrounding area over the last few years making this not only a productive fishing mark but also an attractive and pleasant place to pursue the sport.
