Killington Reservoir (Game)

Killington Reservoir extends to 153 acres and once served as the header for the now disused Kendal to Lancaster canal. It now serves as a valuable recreational amenity for both anglers and water sports enthusiasts alike. The reservoir is some 700 feet above sea level and rather open to the elements. Early season can be a bit of a trial at times but during the summer months Killington is often at its best when other more sheltered waters suffer from the heat. To the north, south and east the views are excellent, especially of the Howgill fells behind Sedbergh. To the west the M6 is seen but fortunately not intrusive.

The water is stocked with small brown trout. Fish do grow on and can be taken all around the fishery; in fact keeping on the move at this large venue is probably the best approach. Angling is restricted to bank only – a pity, this would be a great loch style water.

Fly, worm and spinner are the permitted methods for trout and the fishery is open year round. (Closed season for brown trout is from 1st October to 14th March inclusive)

The fishing on Killington is managed by Kent Angling Association
