Crofton Lake is a twelve acre coarse fishery on the outskirts of Carlisle. Originally part of the old Crofton estate the lake is now owned by Carlisle and District Coarse Angling Club who are working hard in their ambition to create not only a first class fishery but also a regional coaching and education centre for young anglers.
The club had leased the lake for a number of years and had already done much to improve the appearance of the water with extensive planting of trees and marginal vegetation, the construction of new pathways and the installation of new pegs. Several pegs are double size and there are six with wheelchair access.
Fish stocks include carp, both mirrors and commons, with some going over the twenty pounds mark together with a large head of bream, good sized Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Gudgeon – and the odd Chub.
Both membership and day permits are available.
