It is not unusual to find big Pike on stocked trout waters and Esthwaite is no exception offering perhaps the best odds in the county of connecting with very large fish. The fishery holds numerous twenty pounders the distinct possibility of a leviathan over 40lb.

Pike fishing on Esthwaite is only available over the winter months from 1st October through to 31st March. Occasional days are arranged during the summer with the PAC and LAS – although these are inevitably booked up well in advance.

Day tickets and boat hire are available. For more regular visitors a membership scheme is on offer. Esthwaite is also a highly underestimated fishery for other coarse species and holds specimen roach and perch in high numbers. Bank
