This is a pleasant mixed coarse fishery situated near Endmoor and roughly four miles from Kendal off the A65. The ‘tarn’ was originally dug some twenty years ago and is now well naturalised. Its shape is best described as an elongated doughnut but because of its length it feels canal-like to fish. Species present include Carp, Tench, Bream, Perch, Roach, Rudd, and Eels.
Pole can be fished but be careful not to spook the fish on the shallower pegs. More popular are waggler and feeder methods. As a guide 3-4lb main line and 2½lb hook lengths will land most fish except the carp, which will trash most rigs less than 6lb as they run through the weed beds. The water is often clear so best results will come from fishing next to weed beds or other features which the fish use for refuge and shade.
The fishery has good car parking, access for disabled anglers and a perimeter footpath. The banks are soft in places and anglers should fish from the numerous constructed platforms.
