This very accessible section of coast between Dubmills Point and Silloth gives shallow ground fishing for good bass which should start to appear from May and can be caught until late autumn. Double figure bass were a feature of this area and still turn up from time to time although these days the averageĀ is very much smaller. Winter fishing is mainly for flounder together with codling and whiting.
Beckfoot is a shallow beach and the tide goes out a long way here. Take great care and leave a wide margin for error. Although it can fish well on smaller neap tides it is wise to fish only the last three hours up on the bigger tides.
As with many of the marks along this coast a steady south westerly often gives the best conditions and rag, lug and crab should all produce fish.
There are any number of parking and access points all along this section
