Seascale

Seascale is a large village just south of the giant Sellafield complex. A big car park, fish and chip shop and easy access to the beach are some of the plus points and at times the fishing can be quite reasonable too. It can be a busy place over the summer but on a good , wild day there shouldn’t be too many dogs chasing sticks on the beach.

This is a shallow beach that fishes best on high tides with an onshore wind. Codling can be expected in winter with flounders and bass the main summer species.

If Seascale is rather too cosmopolitan for your taste then try the more peaceful option at Drigg Scar a couple of miles to the south. This is a noted rougher ground mark for cod and bass. There is good access and car parking
